For Faculty

This page details the partnership and resources available to faculty through the library.

Request New Resources

The library strives to provide materials that support the mission of the College and student coursework. Library staff welcome purchase suggestions from any faculty member. All purchase requests will be reviewed by a librarian for relevance to the library’s collection in terms of curricular and research support, available funding, and uniqueness of the title compared to existing resources in the library’s collection.

Purchase requests can be made by e-mailing library@lakeforest.edu.

Request Research Instruction

Librarians are available to teach research sessions that align with assignment objectives and information literacy standards. Librarians collaborate with instructors to design course-integrated sessions that advance student research skills as they locate, evaluate, synthesize, and cite information at the college level.

With the goal of fostering student confidence, research sessions can cover navigating library stacks and databases, crafting research questions, developing effective search strategies, reading academic articles, providing proper attribution, as well as preparing literature reviews and annotated bibliographies.

Request Research Consultations

Course instructors can encourage or require 1:1 research consultations (virtual or in-person) with a librarian. Librarians will work with individual students at any stage of the research process from choosing research topics to finding, evaluating, and citing sources.

Students can schedule consultations with any available librarian. If you wish to require consultations or expect many students to schedule, please let us know at library@lakeforest.edu.

Request Syllabi

Faculty may request access to previous semesters' course syllabi by contacting syllabi@lakeforest.edu with the course code and title, year, and semester you are looking for. Past syllabi are now managed by the Archivist and Librarian for Special Collections.
