Book Circulation Policies
Lake Forest College faculty, staff, graduate students(M/LS and thesis), emeriti faculty & trustees:
Unlimited borrowing (books & government documents)
Loan period of full semester
Ten renewals allowed
No daily overdue fines
Lost item status and fines after 30 days overdue; replacement fines will be waived when item(s) are returned, processing fines will not be waived for graduate (M/LS and thesis) students
Current Lake Forest College undergraduate students:
Unlimited borrowing (books & government documents)
Loan period of three weeks
Ten renewals allowed
No daily overdue fines
Lost item status and fines after 30 days overdue; replacement fines will be waived when item(s) are returned, processing fines will not be waived
Lake Forest College Alumni and Lake Forest & Lake Bluff public library patrons:
Ten items may be borrowed total (books & government documents)
Loan period of three weeks
Ten renewals allowed per item
No daily overdue fines
Lost item status and fines after 30 days overdue; replacement fines will be waived when item(s) are returned, processing fines will not be waived
May not borrow media items (CDs, DVDs, and videos)
Media Circulation Policies
Faculty, staff, emeritus faculty & trustees:
Unlimited borrowing (videos, DVDs, CDs)
Loan period of one week
Two renewals allowed
No daily overdue fines
Lost item status and fines after 30 days overdue; fines and fees will be waived when item(s) are returned
Reserve items may be borrowed with permission of all relevant instructors
Current Lake Forest College undergraduate & graduate students:
Up to two videos or DVDs at one time (no CDs allowed)
Loan period of three days
No renewals allowed
Overdue fine of $1.00 per day per item (up to $10 per item) with 24-hour grace period
Lost item status and fines after 10 days overdue; replacement fines will be waived when item(s) are returned, processing fines will not be waived
Overdue fines will not be waived
Reserve items may not be borrowed
Other patron groups, including alumni, participating I-Share institution patrons, community patrons, and non-affiliated patrons:
No borrowing of media permitted. No borrowing of curriculum collection materials permitted.
Non-Circulating Materials
The following items do not circulate to any patron group:
periodicals
and bound journals, reference materials, microfilm, archives and special
collections materials, and reserve items.

Use of the Library
Anyone may use the libraries at Lake Forest College for study, research, and in-house use of the general collections, periodicals and journals, government documents collection (including electronic government documents and public workstations), and special collections and archives.
Viewing rooms for media may be used by community patrons provided no Lake Forest College patron needs one.
We encourage visitors to search the library's catalog, or to call the Reference Desk at (847) 735-5074 before you visit.
Some library databases are proprietary and may be used by Lake Forest College affiliated patrons only.
